Serim® GUARDIAN™Water Hardness Test Strips are designed to provide a semi-quantitative indication of water hardness, which is defined as the total concentration of calcium and magnesium ions expressed in parts per million (ppm) or grains per gallon (gpg) of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). These test strips are essential for monitoring water hardness in hemodialysis water treatment systems to ensure that the water used for dialysis is within safe limits. Excessive hardness can adversely affect dialysis patients and damage water purification equipment, particularly reverse osmosis (RO) filters. The AAMI guidelines recommend that the final product water should not exceed 2 ppm for calcium and 4 ppm for magnesium.

Features:

  • Greater Sensitivity in the Critical Range:
    • Monitors water hardness levels in the critical range of 0 to 10 ppm, which is essential for protecting RO filters and ensuring patient safety.
    • Allows for estimation of hardness levels within this range, providing precise control over water quality.
  • Simple "Dip & Read" Procedure:
    • Offers a quick, reliable, and straightforward method to determine water hardness.
  • Quick, Semi-Quantitative Results in 10 Seconds:
    • Provides rapid results, enabling quick checks of source water or the effectiveness of water softeners.
  • Ready-to-Use Strips:
    • No preparation, mixing of reagents, or additional accessories required.
    • No need for glass vials, sharps, or calibration instruments, enhancing user safety and convenience.
  • Unaffected by Common Water Contaminants:
    • Consistent performance even in the presence of high levels of common water contaminants.
    • Reliable results across various water sources, ensuring accurate hardness measurements.
  • Consistent Color Reactions:
    • Color reactions remain stable throughout the product's shelf life, ensuring reliable results over time.
  • Simple Color Interpretation:
    • Color blocks on the bottle label are labeled in ppm and equivalent grains per gallon (gpg), making interpretation straightforward.
    • No unit conversions or calculations are needed, minimizing user error and variation between readers.
  • Clear Labeling for Traceability:
    • Each bottle is labeled with a lot number and expiration date, ensuring traceability and product integrity.
  • Versatile Testing Methods:
    • Can be used by immersing the strip in a water sample or holding it in a water stream, providing flexibility depending on the sampling location and user preference.
